Quick Vegetable Appe Recipe with step by step photos -
Popular south indian breakfast cum snack. It's healthy as well as easy to make and can also be packed as tiffin snacks for kids.
There are so many different name of this dish, some called called "Paniyaram" or some called "Pan Fried Hoppers".
Appe are spiced dumplings made from left over idli batter or rava batter, appe can be made plain, spiced or sweet. They are crispy from out and soft from within.
Best served for breakfast or with evening tea as snacks along with coriander chutney or try with mayonnaise its yummy I have tried it or simply tomato ketchup. Pair this with a tea or juice.
Personally I love south-indian food love masala dosa, idli and varieties of uttapam and mixed veggie appe is one of them, so I made this with the leftover dosa batter...
It’s a really good option for breakfast or evening snacks. It's light, yummy in taste and they are healthy like most south indian food.
You can add any veggies according to your taste and you can tempered the veggies in little bit oil and then add saute veggies into the batter. I have already posted recipe of vegetable paniyaram in which veggies are saute in oil with dry herbs & spices.
These are made in a special utensil or cookware called paniyaram kadai which have molds in it. In the market one gets both non stick as well metal versions, included wooden stick, you will see in the pics below

ReplyDeleteD when you start making appe, heat your pan in high flame without oil, once it's hot then add oil and reduce the flame, then pour your batter into pan and always cook appe in low flame..add 1 tsp oil all around appe, cook it for few seconds then flip it and cook another side...Use this method, it will not stick this way !!
ReplyDeleteYummy and healthy. Love it
