Aloo ka Bharta Recipe
Aloo ka bharta is an Indian style flavored mashed potatoes with a perfect blend of spices, served it several parts of North-India, Bengal and Pakistan also. 

This is the first time I tried this recipe, I become a fan of this recipe, very easy and tasty dish. You just need boil some potatoes and then saute them with fresh herbs and spices. You can have this dish in your fasting times also.

How to make Aloo Bharta Recipe

In this recipe you can also add some ginger if you want, since this is a no onion no garlic recipe, you can also add a pinch of asafetida. Serve aloo ka bharta with pooris, parathas or phulkas. You can also serve this as a side dish with dal-chapati like as I have serve in below pic. 

Serve Roti with aloo ka bharta, homemade curd, dal and fresh cucumber salad. This is my kind of comfort meal. 

This is simple and comfort food, a jhatpat and chatapate recipe of potatoes. A versatile dish "Cumin Flavored Potatoes" can be eaten by itself as a snack or served with hot puri's and delightful pickle. It is a simple and real treat for all potato lovers.

Let's start to make this easy and quick recipe with simple step-by-step process with pictures.

 
Ingredients :

Boiled Potatoes - 5-6 medium sized
Cumin seeds / Jeera - 2.5 tsp
Chopped Green chillies - 1 no
Turmeric powder/ haldi - 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder - 1/4 tsp
Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
Chopped coriander leaves - 1/4 cup
Lemon juice - 2 tbsp
Food Oil - 3 tbsp

Preparation Method :

1. Peel the boiled potatoes and cut into cubes. You can mash the potatoes here also, but I mashed the potatoes after putting masales into the kadai only.

2. Heat oil in a pan/kadai/wok, add the cumin sees and let sizzle in the oil.

3. Now add the green chillies, fry for a minute. Add the chopped potatoes and mix well with the cumin seeds and chillies.


4. Add the spices like turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala and salt.

5. Saute the potatoes for 1 minutes and then mash it with the spoon or fork. (don't fully smash it)

6. Add the lemon juice and chopped coriander leaves.  Mix the whole mixture and cook for 2-3 minutes, so all the masales and fresh herbs cooked with potatoes.


7. Serve hot Aloo ka bharta with chapati or curd or as a side dish.
